Xiaomi today released the first trailer of its much-awaited VR headset on its Chinese website. Earlier reports suggested that the Chinese gadget maker is going to launch the VR headset today. But instead, we have just got a sneak peak of what is about to be launched. The trailer also specified the date 4 August.

The trailer doesn't reveal much apart from an old man and an old woman asking questions to another man. But as GizChina report pointed out more trailers would be on the way before the Thursday launch. This will be Xiaomi's first step into the VR territory.

The reports suggest that VR headset would be following the standards of Google Daydream. Google launched the Daydream project during the Google IO this year.

During the session, the company laid down a set of specifications for the smartphone and VR headset makers to achieve a certain quality for the virtual reality experience.

Recently, Xiaomi held a big event on July 27 which saw the company unveiling two new laptops. The company claims the laptops under Mi Notebook Air series will perform better than Apple's Macbook Air.

It also launched a new smartphone Xiaomi Redmi Note Pro. Xiaomi is tipped to launch a new smartphone in India this week. Reports suggest that it will be launching its budget offering Xiaomi Redmi 3S.
