This year's Couture Week kicked off with noted designer Manish Malhotra showcasing his latest collection, titled 'The Persian Story'.
Deepika Padukone, who often walks for Malhotra, was joined by newbie heartthrob Fawad Khan on the ramp. Khan was regal in his opulent ensembles inspired by the rich history and architecture of Persia.
'The Persian Story' marks an important milestone for Malhotra whose label completes 11 years in the fashion industry this year. In keeping with the luxury theme that also showcases Indian aesthetics, Malhotra's line focused on rich velvets and dark hues such as marooon, green and dark blue. "The collection is inspired by the stories, sights and poetry of Persia, every outfit has its own unique story told in the language of distinct colours, detailed motifs and rich fabrics," the designer said in a press statement.
Deepika was in a beautiful red velvet lehenga, embroidered in vintage badla work paired with an off-shoulder choli. Fawad accompanied the actress in a black and maroon outfit, and both sported jewellery from Hazoorilal.
Other noted designers such as Gaurav Gupta, Tarun Tahiliani and Varun Bahl will also be showing at the Couture Week which is being held at the Taj Palace Hotel, New Delhi. Rohit Bal will be closing the five-day fiesta this year.
