Bollywood, which doesn't boast of a very impressive roster when it comes to superhero films, has yet again come up with something that looks like an unfortunate cross between Pokémon GO - The Movie and Koi Mil Gaya: The Reboot, none of which are essential at this point.

In A Flying Jatt, the trailer of which was unveiled today, Tiger Shroff is seen wearing a blue mask that looks like it was fashioned out of a large pile of discarded chart paper at a stationery store. He plays a clumsy and goofy superhero who must, of course, save the world from hardcore evil.

Evil comes in the form of Nathan Jones — he is the same actor who was seen as Rictus Erectus in Geroge Miller's 2015 sci-fi fantasy epic Mad Max: Fury Road. Nathan has a generally menacing outlook so the smart execs at Balaji Motion Pictures, the studio behind the film, thought it only natural to get him to play 'villain'.

But Nathan doesn't act alone. He's got top brass, the even eerier-looking Kay Kay Menon who says cryptic things like, "Go and finish him."

Overall, the special effects look campy while the hokey plot seems to have the '90s written all over it. Tiger can hop, skip, and jump — but act he cannot. A Flying Jatt looks like a film that will have to rely on his comic timing, a skill that doesn't come out too well in the trailer.

Jacqueline Fernandez appears as the hero's 'love-interest' but one cannot tell if she'll have a meatier part than what is already visible.

Directed by Remo D'Souza, who last helmed the 2015 blockbuster ABCD 2, A Flying Jatt opens in theaters on August 25 and will also see a cameo by Shraddha Kapoor, who had collaborated with D'Souza in the ABCD sequel.
