MATHURA -- A priest of a famous temple was seriously injured after he allegedly fell off the roof of a three-storey building when a troop of monkey attacked him in Radha Vallabh Ghera area.

Brijendra Vallabh Goswami, priest of Radha Vallabh Temple, yesterday got injured after falling from the 20-foot high building when about 12 monkeys attacked him, his nephew Yadvendra Vallabh Goswami said.

A monkey entered Goswami's house and escaped with his spectacles. In a bid to get his pair of glasses back, the priest followed him to the roof where the troop attacked him, he said.

The priest fell off the roof and received injuries on his head, legs and arms. He was taken to a hospital from where he was referred to Agra, Goswami said, adding his condition was stated to be serious.

The victim's family alleged that the municipal corporation has failed to control the monkey menace.
