Reliance launched the LYF phones in the beginning of the year and the also secured the 5th spot in the shipment rankings for the Q1. However, many felt that despite the bundled data plan some of the phones were priced on a higher side. But, according to a PhoneRadar report, some of the phones are set to receive a price cut.

A total of six phones is going to receive the price cut as big as 25% off the launch price. Flame 2, Flame 4, Flame 5, Flame 6, Water 2 and Wind 6 are the phones which are getting a new discounted price. The new prices for these phones would be ₹3499, ₹2999, ₹2999, ₹2999, ₹9499, ₹5999 according to the report.

Reliance has been planning to launch their 4G service Jio this year but there have been several delays in the full-fledged launch. Last year they started giving the 4G service to their employees on the trial basis to test out their network capabilities. Later this year, they launched an invite system where employees could invite 10 of their friends to buy an LYF phone and get 3 months of Jio data free.

Jio ditched the invite system a few weeks later and then started selling the phones bundled with data without invites in their stores. The company's latest entrant in the smartphone market was Earth 2 which started selling at ₹19999, a price which was much higher than the specification the company was offering.

LYF phones now come with 3 months of unlimited 4G data on the Jio network. Apart from the unlimited data, the user gets 1500 of VoLTE (Voice over LTE) calls, HD video calls, 9000 SMS and full access to Digital life for 3 months. They also come with a 2 year warranty from the company.

Reliance has also launched a suite of 8 applications. These 8 apps are JioPlay and JioOnDemand for video content, JioBeats for music, JioMags, JioNews and JioXpressNews for reading and news, JioSecurity for safety, and JioDrive for storage. Invited users would get premium access to these applications as well.

While Reliance 4G is the talk of the town, companies such as Airtel, Vodafone are trying to upgrade their networks to give better services to their consumers
