In a shocking news of violation of the right to privacy, a 17-year-old alleged rape victim from Bihar had to undergo the banned two-finger test five times.

The minor girl who was reportedly assaulted at gunpoint and gang-raped in Motihari, Bihar, on 13 June, was made to undergo medical examination five time after she reported the incident, according to The Telegraph.

The girl was admitted to the Ramgarhwa primary health centre on 18 June and later to the Motihari Sadar hospital where she was examined twice on 22 and 25 June.

The two-finger test was banned in 2014 after the Supreme Court, in 2013, ruled that it violates the woman's right to privacy. It had directed the government to provide better medical procedures to confirm sexual assault.

"Rape survivors are also entitled to medical procedures conducted in a manner that respects their right to consent," the apex court had ruled.

Senior BJP leader and former deputy chief minister Sushil Kumar Modi reacted to the news, alleging that the Bihar state government was trying to suppress the truth in this case.

The National Commission for Women member, Sushma Sahu, also recommended action against the Motihari Superintendent of Police for his alleged role in suppressing the facts.
