In a bid to clear the air around his ‘waiter’ remark, BJP MP Subramanian Swamy on Saturday denied targeting Arun Jaitley and said that the union finance minister looked ‘very smart’ in a coat, news reports said.
Swamy’s clarification comes after his recent tweet, about how ministers who wore coat and tie on foreign visits looked like waiters, was widely interpreted as a veiled attack on Jaitley who wore a lounge suit when he was in Beijing.
BJP should direct our Ministers to wear traditional and modernised Indian clothes while abroad. In coat and tie they look like waiters

Calling the news reports of him targeting Jaitley as ‘rumours’, Swamy said, “If I want to target someone, I do it openly. In fact, Mr Jaitley looks very smart in a coat.”

The clarification comes after Swamy’s comments apparently irked some senior BJP leaders, news reports said.
“We can post tweets criticising him, too. But one cannot stoop to that level. We can no longer say that these are his personal views and that the party has distanced itself from him," a senior BJP leader told IE.
Swamy also denied that the BJP is miffed with him.

After launching a relentless attack on Raghuram Rajan that eventually saw the RBI governor deciding not to take up a second term at the central bank, Swamy turned his guns on Chief Economic Advisor Arvind Subramanian last week.
Who said to US Cong on 13/3/13 the US should act against India to defend US Pharmaceuticals interests? Arvind Subramanian MoF !! Sack him!!!
