On Monday, Bollywood actor Aamir Khan released on Twitter a photo of himself in the role of the legendary wrestler Mahavir Singh Phogat, from his eagerly-awaited film Dangal.

In this first glimpse of himself in the role of a young Mahavir, Khan hits a striking pose, with ripping muscles and a scowl on his face as he clutches a dumbbell in either hand.

Dangal, directed by Nitesh Tiwari, is being co-produced by Aamir Khan Productions and Disney, and is set to hit the theatres this Christmas.

Khan had to put on some extra kilos to portray the older version of Mahavir, weighing an impressive 98 kilos at one point last year.

But, to play the role of a younger Mahavir, Khan had to lose 25 kilos again, a feat that took a toll on his health.

In fact, last year, the 50-year-old superstar collapsed on the sets of the film during a shooting schedule in Ludhiana, in Punjab.

In March, HuffPost India had reported that Khan had flown to the US to seek expert medical advice to return to his original size without harming his health. With his weight gain, Khan was finding it difficult to breathe at times.
