Filmmaker Apoorva Lakhia, known for directing commercial fare like Shootout At Wadala and Shootout At Lokhandwala, had announced a film on the life of gangster Dawood Ibrahim's late sister Haseena Parkar, in 2014.

After scurrying for a leading lady to essay the role of Dawood's fiery sister, Lakhia has finally decided to go with Shraddha Kapoor. Interestingly, Shraddha's real-life brother Siddhant, who is five years older to her, will essay the role of the dreaded criminal, Mumbai Mirror reported.

Before Shraddha, the film was reportedly offered to Rani Mukerji and Sonakshi Sinha, but the project didn't kick off with either of them.

While Shraddha has done a film like Haider, she's largely stuck to safe projects like ABCD 2, Baaghi and Ek Villain. This will be her first film where she'll be seen playing a hard-hitting character based on a controversial real-life personality.

Siddhant, on the other hand, has dabbled with negative roles. The actor was noticed in Anurag Kashyap's Ugly, where his character had dark edges while he's already played a mobster in Lakhia's Shootout At Wadala.

This will also be the first time the real-life siblings will come together on-screen.

Speaking to Mumbai Mirror, Siddhant said, "We're extremely close, more like best friends. Shra's my person. Earlier, Sonakshi (Sinha) was to play Haseena but the dates didn't work out. Shraddha coming on board was the best thing ever. I was present for her narration and both of us loved it."

The makers will start filming this December in Mumbai where Dongri (Haseena's address) will be recreated on a set. The unit is set to travel to other cities and the Middle East to shoot other portions of the film, the Mirror report said.
