OnePlus, known for its invite system and crazy contests to sell phones, has decided to do away with these practices in favour of regular sales methods. Carl Pei, the company co-founder, announced that buyers need not wait for invites for OnePlus 3 as there won't be any.
Pei also confirmed that OnePlus 3 will be launched in India at 10 PM on 14 July. This is a big step for OnePlus whose marketing style has been questioned in the past this. OnePlus has also announced a program called OnePlus Lab where users can test the phone ahead of the launch.
OnePlus had earlier announced that this year's launch will also take place through VR headsets that will be sent out in advance, just as in the case of the OnePlus 2 launch last year. However, this year the company is giving away LoopVR headsets for free, to "up the ante" according to Pei. The online registration for the headsets in India are scheduled for 3 and 7 June on Amazon at 12 PM.
A post in China's regulatory agency TENAA also leaked many of the specifications of the new smartphone. OnePlus 3 will feature a metal body and a design reminiscent of HTC phones. It will have a 5.5-inch full HD screen, and will run on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor.

The phone could have two variants with 4 GB and 6 GB of RAM as per the listings with TENAA. The TENAA post suggested that the phone will have a 3500 mAh battery but in an earlier leak, Evan Blass had suggested on Twitter that the battery will have 3000 mAh capacity. The phone will also have NFC connectivity and a 16 MP rear camera.
