RAIPUR -- A group of 40 naxals, including one carrying a reward of ₹8 lakh on her head, surrendered in naxal-affected Bastar district today, police said.

A total of 40 naxals surrendered at the district headquarters. Nine women naxals were present among the group, Bastar police said.

19 naxals from Darbha Division Committee (DVC) of Maoists, two from Kanger Veli Area Committee and 19 from East Bastar division and Mardapal Area Committee surrendered before the police, they said.

Subli Kashyap, who had a reward of ₹8 lakh on her head, surrendered along with nine other women.

Subli Kashyap from East Bastar division, who had a reward of ₹8 lakh on her head, was among the surrendered. The naxals of this division were accused of stealing ballots and ammunition during the 2013 Assembly polls, police said.

A sum of ₹10,000 was given to the surrendered naxals by the Collector as a goodwill measure, they added.
