NEW DELHI -- Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday congratulated Trinamool Congress (TMC) supremo Mamata Banerjee and All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) chief J Jayalalithaa for retaining power in their respective states of West Bengal and Tamil Nadu.

According to the latest Election Commission data, AIADMK is leading in 136 seats, DMK in 77, Congress in 11, and others in three seats respectively.

Meanwhile, in West Bengal, TMC is leading in 212 seats, Left 25, Congress in 41, BJP in seven and others in seven seats.
