PUNE -- RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat has agreed to meet Bhumata Brigade president Trupti Desai who had sought an audience with him demanding that women be allowed to become members of the outfit, however the meeting is not likely to be held anytime soon.

The meeting could be possible only after June as Bhagwat is busy attending the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh's camps, RSS national communication head Aniruddha Deshpande said yesterday.

"(Trupti) Desai had sought a meeting with Bhagwatji, however, RSS' national camps are being organised in the country and Bhagwatji will be attending these camps in May and June and scheduling the meeting during this period is not possible," Deshpande said.

He said the RSS chief has conveyed through him a message for Desai that the meeting can be scheduled only after June.

"I was to meet Desai, but due to some reason I could not meet her and communicated the message (to her) over phone," Deshpande said, adding the date will be communicated to her as per Bhagwat's schedule.

When contacted, Desai, spearheading the campaign against gender bias at the places of worships, said, "We are hopeful that RSS will act on our demand and will take a positive decision. We are ready to wait till July."

In April, Desai had written a letter to the RSS chief demanding that women be admitted in RSS and sought a meeting with him.
