With Quantico renewed for a second season and a pivotal role in the Baywatch reboot, Priyanka Chopra is in the best phase of her career right now. And she's got her mother's backing.
While the pressure of marriage looms large on quite a few Indian women as they begin to cross the age of 30, Priyanka's mother Madhu Chopra isn't the one to talk her daughter into 'settling down' as is evident from a recent interview she gave to The Indian Express.
Madhu told the paper that there was a point in time when she did ask Priyanka to get married, but she doesn't do so anymore.
"Today, I see many marriages are falling apart. People don’t have the tolerance to give each other and their relationship so much time and to see it nurture. So when Priyanka reaches that stage when she has the time to nurture her relationship and give it the attention it needs and demands, she will get married. It’s not like you have reached a certain age and now it is time to get married. That’s a wrong basis for marriage," she said.
When asked when does Priyanka intend to get married, Madhu said, "That is for her to decide and whenever she is ready for it, she will get married." Madhu's own marriage with the late Dr. Ashok Chopra, also inspired Priyanka and her mother mentioned that her superstar daughter is looking for a relationship just like her parents.
"She is looking for a relationship like she saw in us. For that, you need to have a lot of time to give attention to such a relationship."
Madhu said she would prefer it if Priyanka's would-be husband is from outside the film industry. "Vision broad ho jayega. Bahar ki cheezein bhi dikhayi dene lagegi (She'll have a broader vision and look at things outside of showbiz too)," Madhu said.
