Even as Indrani Mukerjea continues to battle allegations of murdering daughter Sheena Bora, Indrani's husband Peter reportedly sent her a loving message on her birthday in January earlier this year, comparing themselves to 'Romeo and Juliet'.
"God is great and will see an end to this, and like Romeo & Juliet we will hopefully see each other soon — in court or at home one day," he wrote to her, reported The Times of India. "I hope it reaches you and gives you a moment of joy in all the sadness that everyone is going through — but most of all you and me in the process."
Peter Mukerjea, accused in Sheena Bora case, was produced at Esplanade court on 30 November, 2015 in Mumbai.
Peter, who is also a suspect in the murder, is in jail and his second bail plea hearing is currently underway.
According to the report, Peter sent the handwritten, one-page letter to Indrani on 3 January at the Byculla Ladies Prison, addressing her as "Mumu, my dearest".
He called the murder allegations a "nightmare", and said in his letter that he hoped Indrani would be able to "prove her innocence" soon. He called her birthday a special day for both of them, mourning the fact that they couldn't spend it together like they always have, since the two first met.
He signed off his letter with a hug and a kiss.
Of course, Peter wrote the letter before the two began fighting over the sale of their Worli house, which they co-own. Peter has denied any involvement in the case, and his family has even suggested that Peter had discovered soon after the case broke out that Indrani had been cheating on him.
Indrani, however, has reportedly told CBI that Peter is innocent, and Peter, in turn, has previously declared that he loved Indrani, and did not doubt her.
