WATCH: 'Sachin: A Billion Dreams' Teaser Features The Man Himself, And It's A Goddamn Feels-Fest

The Teaser For The Sachin Tendulkar Movie Will Hit You Right In The Feels

In case you were unaware, a Hindi feature film on the life of cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar is on its way. On Thursday, a teaser of the film — Sachin: A Billion Dreams, directed by James Erskine — debuted on social media.

The minute-long teaser features a voice-over from Tendulkar himself, who, according to reports, is making his acting debut in the movie (as himself, obviously).

He appears in the promo briefly, with his back to the camera, but his stocky frame instantly recognisable, talking about the advice his father once gave him. We even see a brief glimpse of an oft-repeated story that every Tendulkar fan knows by heart: the coins that would be placed on the stumps by Ramakant Achrekar, his childhood coach, to be given as a reward to him if he could protect his wicket through one of their regular training sessions at Mumbai's Shivaji Park.

As the promo ends, the familiar chant of 'Sachinnnnn, Sachin!' rises up and dominates the soundtrack, featuring a score by Oscar-winning composer AR Rahman.

There is no evidence of Tendulkar's acting skills (or lack thereof) in this teaser, but there is little doubt that there will be widespread interest in watching this film.

Produced by Mumbai-based production house 200 Not Out, the film is not a documentary nor a standard biopic, as per this Times Of India report.

Erskine, a Primetime-Emmy-nominated English filmmaker, is perhaps best known for his sports documentaries One Night In Turin (2010), which takes a look at the England football team's exploits during the 1990 FIFA World Cup; and The Battle Of The Sexes (2013), which documented the events leading up to the famous 1973 tennis match between Bobby Riggs and Billie Jean King.

Sachin: A Billion Dreams will focus on certain aspects of Tendulkar's personal life as well, including his childhood, his marriage, and his worldwide fan following. It is slated to release in 2000 screens worldwide some time in 2016.

Watch the teaser above. Try not to weep with excitement.
