Taxi aggregator Uber will now allow users to book a ride directly from the other apps such as Zomato and American Express. The company will also allow other apps to show information in the Uber app during the ride under branding and personalization.

The ride request API allows the partners to integrate the Uber experience in their app. The users can use the partner app and request the Uber ride without leaving the app. The integration is very easy as described in the Medium post by Uber Head of Product Chirs Saad.

"This API is targeted towards our collaboration with developers in India and China. In a lot of area in these countries, there is a lack of strong GPS connectivity and high-speed mobile internet. In that case, this API will help the partners integrate the Uber experience and make it light weight instead of switching apps. If Uber rider is in Zomato app she can click the 'Ride there with Uber' button and choose the type of ride she wants" said Saad Ahmed, Business Development Lead, Uber India.

Another feature is the Trip branding for partners. Uber recently launched their ride reminder API which they implemented first in India by partnering with Bookmyshow. Now they are extending the experience of that. When the you are riding to a specific destination from the partner app the strip below the Driver information will have a branding strip. When you click on that strip you can see textual information from that partner.

Uber has launched this feature right now with three partners Hilton, Zomato and City mapper. In the Hilton App when you book a ride through ride reminder the partner strip will tell you the details of your booking. In Zomato app, you can see the menu of the restaurant you are travelling to. Citymapper app integration will help you see the time of next train. In future, this can be implemented in India in apps like Mumbai train app or Delhi metro app.
