SnG Comedy's Qawwali On Vijay Mallya Pulls No Punches

This Qawwali On Vijay Mallya Pulls No Punches

It might be safe to say that businessman Vijay Mallya isn't the most popular man in the country right now.

The 60-year-old tycoon, renowned for his high-flying lifestyle, has been at the receiving end of public outrage for the past few years due to the financial controversies around his companies. Currently, he owes ₹9,000 crore to 17 Indian banks. Since early March, he has been out of the country.

While reports have speculated that he is absconding, he has insisted that he is merely travelling as a matter of course and in the process of negotiating deals with banks. On Wednesday, he promised to pay ₹4,000 crores back to Indian banks by September.

A new video uploaded the same day, created by comedy collective SnG Comedy, pokes fun at the controversies surrounding Mallya's life, and pulls no punches. Aside from poking fun at his 'playboy' image and controversies, it also doesn't shy away from taking a pot-shot at his son Sid Mallya's acting career. It intercuts a satirical news report with a qawwali set to the tune of 'Parda Hai Parda' from the Bollywood classic Amar Akbar Anthony (1977).

Watch it above.
