If you are among those for whom gossip columns make for essential weekend reading, you must have been wondering about Siddharth Malhotra and Alia Bhatt. The rumours about them dating, the reports rubbishing the rumours and TV reports cautiously declaring that they are 'allegedly' in a relationship.

However, Vogue India, which recently did a cover shoot with Bhatt and Malhotra for its March issue, has declared them a couple. Priya Tanna, while explaining why Malhotra and Bhatt were the perfect choices to be on their beach themed issue, writes in her editor's note: "And I can't think of anything better than one of the most beautiful couples of the moment - Alia Bhatt and Siddharth Malhotra - to distill that spirit for our cover."

Observing that during the shoot in Maldives, the couple were occasionally guarded about their 'relationship' and didn't seem to care for cover-ups at other times, the article quotes Bhatt as saying: "I always found him (Siddharth) hot."

It notes they can't seem to "make up their mind about whether to talk about their relationship or nor". However, not once does it debate whether the young actors are in a relationship in the first place.

Bhatt is quoted as saying, "During Student... (their debut film) he treated me like a kid, and I didn't like that."

To which Malhotra quips, "You were 17, anything under 18 is illegal."

Then Alia Bhatt comes the closest to confirming their relationship: "Sid and I, it's not that we don't hang out. We go to parties together, we visit friends together and move around openly. But we are not trying to project an image here or trying to talk about our personal lives in the open. That's not what we are here for."

"When you go out and talk about your relationship openly, there are repercussions," she adds.

Though Malhotra doesn't seem equally forthcoming, it seems like the gossip mills did have it right this time.
