Elephants are gentle creatures and an essential part of many Indian religious festivals. Which is why we often tend to forget the power these gentle giants pack. On Thursday, an elephant went on a rampage at Pulappatta in Kerala during a festival at the Bhagavathi Temple there.

The tusker, named Devidasan, went about a street smashing vehicles and lifting a pick-up truck like it weighed nothing. A video captured showed two mahouts hoisted on the back of the elephant, trying to control it.
