279 Jail Inmates In UP To Appear For Board Exams Today

MUZAFFARNAGAR -- Nearly 280 inmates lodged in various jails of Uttar Pradesh will appear for the state board examinations beginning today.

A total of 279 inmates will be appearing for the state boards this year, with 153 appearing for the intermediate exam and 126 for the high school examination, District Jail Superintendent, Rajender Singh said.

He said the state government has set up eight examination centres for the inmates at Dasna, Firozabad, Bareilly, Banda, Gorakhpur, Fatehgarh, Varanasi and Lucknow jails.

The official stated nine inmates of the district jail here have been shifted to Dasna jail in Ghaziabad for appearing in the board examinations.

Out of the nine inmates, four will appear for class X board while the remaining five will sit for class XII, Singh added.
