WATCH: 'Kapoor And Sons' Trailer, Starring Alia Bhatt, Sidharth Malhotra, And Fawad Khan

The 'Kapoor And Sons' Trailer Looks Pretty Good

The trailer for Shakun Batra's upcoming Kapoor And Sons was uploaded online on Wednesday evening.

The film — which stars Alia Bhatt, Sidharth Malhotra, Fawad Khan, Rishi Kapoor, Ratna Patak Shah, and Rajat Kapoor — looks like an engaging drama about a dysfunctional family. Malhotra and Khan play (unreasonably good-looking) brothers who apparently share a volatile relationship, bonding one moment and throwing things at each other the next. Rajat Kapoor and Shah play their warring parents. Bhatt plays the brothers' potential love interest, although it's difficult to discern what her larger role in the movie is. And the scene-stealer seems to be Rishi Kapoor, playing the wheelchair-bound family patriarch, who is almost unrecognisable under the layers of Benjamin-Button-esque make-up.

This is Batra's second film after the much-liked Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu (2012), which has since garnered more appreciation as a charming, unconventional rom-com. Kapoor And Sons has much of that same charm, although much of it looks familiar and somewhat derivative. But then, the characters look believable and the humour seems quite relatable and perhaps the film has a surprise or two in store for us that hasn't been revealed yet.

Kapoor And Sons releases in theatres on March 18. Watch the full trailer at the top of this entry.
