Amazon has launched local delivery service Amazon Now in Bengaluru. The Amazon Now app is live on Google Play Store. Amazon is also launching express delivery option where the goods will be delivered within two hours, the company said in a press release.

On 28 January Amazon released a teaser on YouTube for Amazon Now. The company has tied up with several stores like Kirana Now, Big Bazaar, Reliance Fresh, Godrej's Nature Basket, Good Food, Food World and BPCL In & Out. Amazon has categories like cooking essentials, snack foods, beverages, bath & shower essentials, baby care and kitchen care.

"We learned a lot from our pilot project Kirana Now which was launched in Bengaluru, which gave the user an option to order groceries from the local stores, delivered in 2-4 hours. We are excited to expand that service and partner with branded stores to avail the service of Amazon Now to the consumers," Samir Kumar, VP of Catagory management Amazon, said.

Amazon App allows the user to sign in or even explore the products as a guest. You can look at the products either department wise or browse a particular store. The user can search also for a particular product. A great feature in the app is that if a product is available in multiple stores a comparison table is presented to the user so she can select the cheapest option.

Users who want the essentials on the urgent basis can select the delivery option of Express Delivery. Amazon guarantees the delivery of goods within two hours upon selecting the express delivery option. If the cart value is below Rs.250 the user has to pay Rs.29 for a scheduled delivery and Rs.49 for an Express delivery.

Amazon is offering 20% cash back in the form of Amazon gift cards up to the maximum value of Rs.100 per order for all the orders above Rs.250 as the part of the launch. The company has not specified details on the extension of Amazon Now services to the other cities. Recently Amazon announced that their subsidiary Junglee will start selling used goods. Amazon now joins the race of hyperlocal goods delivery with Grofers, PeppertTp and BigBasket.
