GUWAHATI -- Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi on Thursday said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is a 'good actor', but his acting skills won't pay all the time.

Gogoi, a veteran Congress leader, said that the Prime Minister was trying to mislead the people of the country by saying that no development has taken place in Assam, and therefore he should check the records before speaking.

"He should speak on the basis of the records of the Government of India. Prime Minister Modi is misleading the people of Assam to cover up his own failure. These are all gimmick. He is a good actor but acting would not pay all the times," Gogoi told ANI.

"Our main target or the main enemy is the BJP. The BJP is a communal force and they are the one to divide the society. Not only that they are anti-poor, pro-rich but they say one thing and do another. The BJP is a party that is not committed to the welfare of the common people and particularly for Assam," he added.

He also said the Congress Party won't allow communal force like BJP to rein Assam and to divide it on the basis of religion. "The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and Bajrang Dal have been trying to create communal tension for last one year but I have been able to control it," he added.
