Comedian Kiku Sharda, who was arrested for mimicking Dera Sacha Sauda leader Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh, is back in jail after another follower of the flamboyant religious leader-turned-actor filed a case against him. Sharda was released on a surety bond of Rs 1 lakh from the Kaithal police station yesterday. While the comedian was on his way to Delhi, he was re-arrested.

The case was filed at the Fatehabad Police Station.

Best known for playing the character Palak on the show Comedy Nights with Kapil, Sharda was arrested from the sets of the TV show, on Wednesday, at 2 am. He was booked on December 31 under Section 295 A of the Indian Penal Code for hurting religious sentiments.

"One more night in jail, I am very upset," Kiku said.

Kiku told Mumbai Mirror that he is a very 'sensitive person' and this has really affected him. The comedian had imitated Singh, the popular but controversial leader of the religious sect, Dera Sacha Sauda, on a New Year's special, Jashn-E-Ummeed, aired on Zee TV on December 27.

On Wednesday, Kiku had been shooting for over 10 hours when the Haryana Police landed up on the sets, picked him up and took him to the Aarey Police Station. After a wait of three hours, the 40-year-old comedian was flown to Haryana and sent to 14-day judicial custody.

Kaithal Superintendent of Police Krishan Murari told the Indian Express, “Sharda was an accused in one of the criminal cases registered here. We learnt of his whereabouts and arrested him.”

On Wednesday evening, the Dera chief tweeted that he was busy shooting and had no idea about the case. He said he had no complains from his side.

The TV comedian is now waiting to get bail from the Fatehabad police station.
