On his 287th day as a part of the #YearInSpace mission, International Space Station commander Scott Kelly shared an awe-inspiring image of a frozen lake in the Himalayan mountain range.

On Saturday, Kelly shared a photograph of the glacial blue frozen lake set amidst the warm brown of Himalayan mountain ranges.

It's easy to see why he thought that the picture was worth a thousand words.

The NASA astronaut is expected to spend about 342 days living and working on the International Space Station -- marking the orbiting outpost's first yearlong space mission.

Earlier this month, he had shared some breathtaking photographs of south India, calling them 'artistic'.
