Schoolgirl Gangraped, Tortured, Murdered Near Aligarh, Police Face Villagers' Wrath

ALIGARH -- A 17-year-old girl was gangraped and killed by unidentified persons in Harduganj area, police said here today.

The victim, a Class-XI student, was on her way to school on a bicycle yesterday when the accused waylaid her. She was then raped and murdered.

As news spread, angry villagers assaulted four policemen who arrived on the spot. Senior police officials rushed to the spot and managed to control the situation.

Police said that a case has been registered against four unidentified youths and that two persons have been picked up for questioning.
