After the groom showed up drunk to his wedding, the bride chucked her garland and walked off the stage.

The bride from Sidhauli village and the groom from Sujaur village were to marry on Monday near Kanpur, The Times of India reported today.

The bride was reportedly so drunk that he fell off the stage just seconds before they were to exchange garlands.

Supporting her decision, the bride's family told the baraat to return.

"She refused to marry the drunken groom," her father told TOI. "We did not force her to marry against her wishes."
