The mystery in the Jiah Khan suicide case deepened as the deceased actress' mother, Rabiya Khan, told reporters on Friday that she was not satisfied with the chargesheet.
"I am not happy with the charge sheet, there is much more to be revealed," she said.
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) had submitted its charge sheet two days ago, alleging that the 26-year-old actress' love interest, Sooraj Pancholi, had abetted her suicide. A suicide note that was recovered at the time of the 2013 incident suggested that Khan had committed suicide following "physical and mental torture" from a man, believed to be Pancholi.
Meanwhile Pancholi’s mother Zarina Wahab claimed that her son was innocent, and he was being defamed. “The entire charge sheet is not out yet. How dare anyone write anything about Sooraj without knowing the contents! We will take action against people giving incorrect information,” she had said earlier.
Pancholi today appeared before a Special Women's court which adjourned the matter till 18 January.
CBI Rapped For Leaking Information
A special court today rapped the CBI for leaking to the media parts of its charge sheet in the model-actress Jiah Khan suicide case, saying this was "very serious" and asked the probe agency to be careful in future.
As Sooraj Pacholi, the accused in the case, collected the copy of the charge sheet and left, Special Judge A S Shende adjourned the case observing, "How come the contents of the charge sheet is known to media even before I got to know about it."
"CBI is the only source from where it got leaked. This is a very serious thing. Be careful about it in future," she warned.
Damning Investigation Against Pancholi
Sooraj (25), who made his debut in Hindi film industry recently, has been charged by CBI with allegedly abetting suicide of Jiah who he had met through Facebook in September 2012 and the friendship blossomed into "intimate relationship" over a period of time, the charge sheet says.
As per the charge sheet filed in a court here, it is alleged that on June 3, 2013, when Jiah was found hanging by her mother at her residence, she had left the house of Sooraj in the morning. Sooraj and Jiah had the been staying together for two days.
According to CBI, Sooraj had hidden facts and fabricated information during questioning, the forensic analysis of his statements have indicated.
The analysis, which is part of charge sheet filed by the agency in the suicide case of 26-year old Nafeesa Rizvi alias Jiah, has "established that Sooraj was concealing relevant information about actual reason behind the incident and the statement given by him is incomplete and fabricated," CBI sources claimed while giving details of the charge sheet filed before a special court here.
Sooraj was also not willing to explain his last argument with Jiah, the sources said.
The young actor, who is the son of Bollywood couple Aditya Pancholi and Zarina Wahab, refused to be part of any scientific tests like polygraph or brain mapping which the agency wanted to conduct to get to the bottom of his alleged role in the incident, the sources had said.
'You Destroyed My Life'
CBI has alleged that the three-page note seized by Mumbai Police on June 10, 2013 was written by Jiah which narrated her intimate relationship, physical abuse and mental and physical torture allegedly experienced at the hands of Sooraj which led to her suicide.
It alleged that the letter was not signed and even not addressed to Sooraj. However, evidence on hand incriminates Sooraj only.
In the letter, Khan wrote: "I have no reason to breathe anymore. All I wanted was love. I did everything for you... You destroyed my life."
In October 2013, Rabiya had moved the Bombay High Court alleging that Jiah, her daughter, had been murdered and sought a CBI probe which was granted.
