A sessions court in Kolkata on Thursday found three men guilty of raping Suzette Jordan, an Anglo-Indian mother of two, in a moving car in Kolkata's Park Street, according to reports.

According to the Hindustan Times, the accused Sumit Bajaj, Ruman Khan and Naseer Khan were convicted by the court and the sentence is to be delivered on Friday. Out of the five men named by the police in their chargesheet, two, including prime accused Kader Khan, are still absconding.

The crime had taken place at Kolkata's posh Park Street, when 37-year-old Jordan was picked up in a car in front of a night club on 5 February, 2012, and gangraped before being thrown off near a road crossing.

The case had caused a public outcry when West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee had tried to play down its severity by calling it 'staged' and 'designed to malign her government', reported India Today.

Jordan died on 13 March 2015 of multi-organ failure in Kolkata. She had appeared in public several times and said she had no inhibition in publishing her name.

The accused were found guilty under sections 376 (2) (g) (gangrape), 120B (criminal conspiracy) 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 506 (criminal intimidation) and 34 (common intention) of IPC, Chief Public Prosecutor Tamal Mukherjee said.
