Timothee Semelin and Yukiko Murayama didn't have an Indian wedding. But for their anniversary, the Hong Kong-based couple flew down to India for the next best thing -- a Bollywood-style wedding shoot in front of the Taj Mahal, complete with Indian clothes, jewellery, and a makeup artist and photographer.

On reaching India, the couple came across Lakshya Chawla, a young Delhi-based photographer, and decided he was the perfect guy to help them complete their project.

"Of all the projects we have done, this was definitely a lot of fun, even though it was very last-minute,” Chawla said in an interview with HuffPost India. “I received an e-mail from Tim, five days before the shoot. I arranged the whole thing for them, including the makeup artist, a lady called Shruti Sharma and themysticalcloset for jewellery.”

With Delhi, Agra and Jaipur on their travel agenda, Timothy and Yukiko didn’t have a lot of time. Chawla took the duo to Agra on a week day when there’s less rush. “Permissions to shoot in front of the Taj are impossible, so we went to the back side of Taj Mahal (Mehtab Bagh) since there are less people there and you get a decent amount of privacy.”

Before heading to Agra, Chawla also took the couple around Delhi to find them the right outfits, including a safa and chunni. “Tim was quite shy about his ensemble, but Yuki fell in love with it.” They combed the streets of Lajpat Nagar for the perfect shoes – peacock coloured footwear for the bride, and classic punjabi juttis for the groom.

“Yuki made a special request for Jaimala and Gajra.”

The next day, Chawla and his team met the couple in Agra, and started to shoot. “They were extremely fascinated by Bollywood, and we specially took a few Bollywood-inspired shots for them,” he said.

In spite of a paucity of time, the shoot went off beautifully, and the couple were very happy. “Tim is French, and Yuki is half Japanese, half Chinese. He works for Linkedin in Hongkong, and she is a social media guru in Beijing -- They couldn’t be further removed from India,” laughed Chawla. “But they made the perfect couple.”
