BAHRAICH, Uttar Pradesh -- Three wildlife smugglers were arrested with rare species of tortoise in Huzupur area, police said here today.

Tapun Pal, hailing from West Bengal, Onkar and Pandey, both from Gonda, were arrested after 35 tortoise of rare species were allegedly found from their possession in Bagaddwa village yesterday, it said.

Police said that the accused have been sent to jail and the recovered tortoise would be released in river after permission from the court.
