If you're a Star Wars fan, this piece of news should definitely get you excited: Disney India has introduced a range of lightsabers from the beloved film franchise that accurately simulate their light and sound effects.

Four variants of lightsabers, launched on Saturday, are now available in India for fans to purchase, ranging from the basic Star Wars E7 Extendable Lightsabers (available in green, blue, and red) at Rs 699 to the E7 Signature Lightsaber (which comes with a number of connectors and lightdaggers) at Rs 3,749. They are available on Amazon.in and Hamleys India toy stores across the country.

"Star Wars is one of the most loved franchises and lightsabers are an iconic symbol of the film," said Amrita Pandey, vice president of marketing and distribution, studios, at Disney India, in an email.

To promote the newly launched merchandise, Disney India is holding an event called 'Star Wars Lightsaber Challenge' in various cities across the country, in which fans can be 'trained' to be Jedis by a 'Jedi Master' and fight a mock battle against 'Darth Vader' and 'Stormtroopers'. One edition of this event was held in Mumbai last Saturday; it will now subsequently be held over coming weekends in Delhi, Bangalore, Ahmedabad, Hyderabad, and Pune.

The upcoming installment in the Star Wars series, Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens, releases worldwide on December 18.
