Dadri Lynching: No Mention Of 'Beef' In UP Government Report To The Centre

NEW DELHI -- In its report about the killing of a Muslim man, accused of slaughtering a cow in Bisada village on September 28, the Uttar Pradesh government makes no mention of "beef" as a motive for an attack by a Hindu mob.

The U.P. government today submitted its report to the central government about the horrific attack on Mohammed Akhlaq and his family over allegations that he had killed a calf and they were consuming beef.

Akhlaq , a 52-year-old ironsmith, died as a result of the injuries sustained due to the brutal beating by the Hindu mob, and his 22-year-old son, Danish, who was in a critical condition, is recovering in a local hospital.

Several media outlets, which accessed the report, said that the U.P. government makes no mention of "beef" in its report to the central government.

"The report based on factual basis has been sent to the central government last night," a Home Department spokesperson said on Monday, PTI reported.

The report, according to NDTV, said Akhlaq was attacked over allegations that he had consumed "prohibited animal meat."

In its report, the UP government names leaders including Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, Telangana lawmaker Akbaruddin Owaisi and Culture Minister Mahesh Sharma, who have visited the Bisada village in western Uttar Pradesh over the past week, and says that politics had led to unrest in the area, NDTV reported.

On Monday, the Home Ministry issued an advisory for all states to ensure zero tolerance for those who "attempt to weaken the secular fabric of the nation and exploit religious sentiments," and called for the strictest action against communal violence, without exception.
