Not for nothing is classical singer Farida Khanum called the Malika-e-Ghazal (empress of ghazal).

On Coke Studio, Khanum performed a melifluous rendition of the popular ghazal Aaj Jane Ki Zid Na Karo, written by Fayyaz Hashmi. Although many, including Pakistani classical vocalist Habib Wali Mohammad, singer Asha Bhosle and composer AR Rahman, have sung the ghazal, no one perhaps brings out the deep longing in it as Khanum does.

Strings recomposed the song for Coke Studio Pakistan in 2015 and Khanum sang it for the finale episode of eight season of Coke Studio. Khanum is back from a break from music and transforms the ghazal into something heavenly.

Here's Pakistani singer Habib Wali Mohammad's version of the ghazal.

And here's composer AR Rahman singing it.
