Low grade explosives were allegedly recovered from the Falaknuma Express at the Howrah Railway Station in West Bengal on Tuesday night, according to reports. A packet, which looked suspicious to the cleaning staff at the station, contained five unclaimed pipe-like objects, wrapped in a polythene sheet.
The Railway Protection Force (RPF) who found the explosives, alerted the Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS), who arrived at the spot immediately, according to media reports.
A senior GRP official told PTI that the packet was discovered in an empty compartment after the train arrived at platform 17 of Howrah station.
The area was cleared and the object placed in a cylinder and taken to an isolated spot by the Bomb Disposal Squad for controlled explosion.
However, the movement of local and long distance trains from different platforms remained unaffected. More details are awaited.
