WATCH: Deepika Padukone And Ranbir Kapoor Display Effortless Chemistry In 'Tamasha' Trailer

The 'Tamasha' Trailer Will Find The Approval Of Ranbir-Deepika Fans, But Isn't It Kinda Familiar?

The trailer for Imtiaz Ali's highly-awaited Tamasha, starring Deepika Padukone and Ranbir Kapoor, was uploaded online on Tuesday evening.

Kapoor plays a jaded corporate employee who recounts an experience he had while vacationing in Corsica at some unspecified time in the past. The trailer shows us that he met Padukone and had what looks like a classic Before Sunrise-like vacation fling, in which they decided to pretend to be different people. "What happens in Corsica stays in Corsica," says Padukone, at one point, as she flags off the cliché train.

From the trailer, Tamasha promises to give viewers the same effortless brand of Ranbir-Deepika chemistry last seen in Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani (2013). Fans of the erstwhile couple are likely to be satisfied. However, from whatever is revealed, the story seems to be quite predictable and by-the-numbers, especially for a film that asks the question "Why always the same story?"

Ali's previous film was the acclaimed Highway (2014), which featured a surprise, star-making performance from Alia Bhatt and stood out somewhat from his earlier works even as it made use of recurring themes in his filmography. Will Tamasha surprise us similarly?

We'll only find out for sure on November 27, when the film releases.

Watch the trailer above.
