On Monday, Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan tweeted out the first look for his eagerly-awaited next release: Dangal, based on the life of noted Indian wrestler Mahavir Singh Phogat.

The first look, which is basically a poster has Khan's face is covered in sand, the kind that is used in local Indian akhaadas (wrestling rings).

Dangal, directed by Nitesh Tiwari, is being produced by Aamir Khan Productions and Disney.

A few days ago, Khan was in the news regarding how he had met up with Mahavir Phogat's daughter to get more information about their father, who inspired them to become wrestlers. In fact, one of his daughters, Geeta Phogat, created history by winning India's first ever gold medal in women's wrestling in the 55 kg freestyle category at the 2010 Commonwealth Games.

Dangal, which is set to hit the theatres during Christmas 2016, will be shot entirely in Punjab and Haryana. Khan has also shortlisted more than 60 local Punjabi artists, who will be playing various small roles in the film.
