English action star Jason Statham achieved worldwide fame thanks to his role as Frank Martin in the Hollywood franchise Transporter, and now it looks as though one Bollywood actor will get a similar opportunity.

According to a Mumbai Mirror report, a Hindi remake of the fourth installment in the series — The Transporter: Refueled, a 'rebooted' entry that releases in India on Friday — is on the cards.

Mirror spoke to a source said to be close to the project, who revealed that they are "actively looking at an Indian adaptation of this highly popular franchise and scouting for A-grade action talent like Ajay Devgn, Akshay Kumar or Varun Dhawan for the Hindi film."

The film will also reportedly be helmed by an "A-list director" and all details are to be finalised by early 2016. The decision to do the remake, said the source, is based on the positive and ever-increasing box-office revenues that come from dubbed Hollywood actioners in India. Bollywood is being roped in by the franchise to capitalise on the already-existing popularity of the French franchise.

The Transporter: Refueled is the first film in the franchise to have replaced Statham with English actor-musician Ed Skrein (who has played Daario Naharis in the hit TV show Game Of Thrones). It also stars Northern Irish actor Ray Stevenson and French actress Loan Chabanol.
