Mexican Singer's Kleenex Falls Out On Stage, She Continues Like It's No Big Deal

Mexican Singer's Kleenex Falls Out On Stage, She Continues Like It's No Big Deal

UPDATE: This story now incorporates tweets by singer Patricia Navidad that indicate that it was a Kleenex tissue that fell out from under her dress and not a sanitary napkin as reported.

Mexican singer Patricia Navidad was on stage, performing 'Viva Mexico' on Univision's 'Despierta América', when what looked like a sanitary napkin fell out from under her dress. The singer, who has been performing before the public since she was 15 years old, continued unfazed like it was no big deal (and it wasn't) while the white object lay right next to her feet.

Soon after, when media headlines highlighted the incident, swarms of trolls descended on her social media feed -- shaming and ridiculing her.

Finally the 42-year-old had had enough and she wrote back to those who were insulting her on Twitter and Facebook with a series of tweets of her own.

— Patricia Navidad (@ANPNL05) July 14, 2015

NO SOY BOXEADORA, SOY UNA GUERRERA Y NUNCA TIRO LA TOALLA, AL MENOS Q YA NO ME SIRVA😂igual que la chancla no la vuelvo a levantar!! 😁

— Patricia Navidad (@ANPNL05) July 14, 2015

Navidad had this to say to those who were mocking her: "They say a man who treats women as princesses has been raised by a queen, those who attack and offend, who educated you?;" "What a pity that there are men here who forget that they are here because of a woman and they're vulgar and offensive to women!!!"; and "And if it was what they say, it's not shameful or embarrassing, but then they judge and assault, they forget they are not what they say!"

"I'm not a boxer, I'm a warrior, and I never throw in the towel, unless I don't need it anymore," she said.

But later, she responded to queries from Twitter users saying that it was not a sanitary napkin but a wad of Kleenex tissues she was using to dry her armpit sweat, that fell out from under her dress.

Here are the tweets.

— Patricia Navidad (@ANPNL05) July 14, 2015

NUNCA HE TIRADO LA TOALLA, NI LA TIRARE, SE CAYO POR UN TÚNEL QUE VENIA DESDE LA AXILA, PERO NUNCA LA TIRE Jajajaja 😂😂😂😁👏🏻👍🏻

"In the first place, there is a big difference between Kleenex and a sanitary towel, which I moreover don't use," the singer said in the tweets. It was the Kleenex that fell out, she added.

"Never have I thrown in the towel nor will I ever do so."
