A constable, who was recently questioned in connection with the Vyapam scam, has been founding hanging from a ceiling fan at a tourist police outpost in Tikamgrah, Madhya Pradesh.
Ramakant Pandey, 35, was an alcoholic and depressed over being in debt, said the local police, The Times of India reported. No suicide note was found on the scene.
The constable now joins at least 35 others connected to the Vyapam scam, who have died since 2010 for different reasons including alcoholism, drunk driving and accident.
Vyapam is a massive scam which involves politicians and government officials allegedly allowing impostors to take exams for government jobs in Madhya Pradesh, in exchange of vast sums of money. An SIT probe into the scam is being monitored by the Jabalpur High Court.
Akshay Singh, a journalist, who was investigating the scam, died mysteriously on Saturday.
