Ola, India's largest taxi-hailing app maker, today went after rival Uber on Twitter.

It all started with a friendly exchange of tweets between TaxiForSure, another taxi-hailing app that Ola owns, with Ola's twitter handle. Then Ola said this:

Uber usurped the friendly little chat to point out that their fares are the lowest. In Delhi, Uber cabs are available for Rs 7/km for the UberGo service, the company said in SMS sent to users. The lowest price for an Ola or TaxiForSure cab is Rs 8 per km.

Uber's response prompted Ola to troll right back.

The 7X was was reference to Uber's controversial surge pricing, a mechanism that hikes the fare in the system in response to demand, to incentivize more drivers to get on the road.

Ola and Uber, the San Francisco-based taxi-hailing app, are locked in an intense tussle for marketshare in India. Both were banned by the Delhi government after a woman was allegedly raped in an Uber cab in December. The cabs continued to operate, apart from brief stoppages in service. Ola recently obtained a favourable court ruling.
