KANPUR (Uttar Pradesh) — A national level Kabaddi player was allegedly assaulted by a group of men in Kanpur for resisting a molestation attempt, according to reports.

A group of 10-12 men barged into Dolly Singh's house on June 15 and assaulted her, allegedly as revenge for resisting an earlier attemp to molest her, IBNLive reported.

"Last month, when I was at home in our locality Ujala Thakur and Rishi Gandhi had teased me. I resisted them and then I went back to my work. I am taking coaching at Orai. When I returned, on 15th evening they came to know I was at home. 10 to 12 men came at around 6:30 pm and thrashed me," Singh told NDTV.

"I received severe injuries. They did so because I complained against them," she said. Meanwhile, the police assured that action will soon be taken against the accused.

"The charges have been framed. Arrests shall be made accordingly," said Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Sharad Mathur.

Samajwadi Party leader Gaurav Bhatia told CNN-IBN that an FIR had been registered.

Singh trains in Delhi and is part of the national team, according to NDTV.
