A star-studded cast, exotic locales, and shiny, not-so-happy people have come together to work in Zoya Akhtar's favour. The director's latest film, 'Dil Dhadakne Do', releases on Friday to a positive response from audiences. According to BoxOfficeIndia.com, the film has beaten 'Tanu Weds Manu Returns' — so far the biggest hit of the year — as the top worldwide opener of 2015.

The film — which stars Ranveer Singh, Priyanka Chopra, Anushka Sharma, Farhan Akhtar, Anil Kapoor, and Shefali Shah — earned Rs 69 crore over its opening weekend, with approximately Rs 21 crore coming from the overseas market. Reportedly, this opening is one the top twenty of all time for a Hindi film. It is important to note that these figures are gross and not nett values.

Kangana Ranaut starrer 'Tanu Weds Manu Returns' had reportedly grossed Rs 66.5 crore over its opening weekend (beginning May 22). According to trade analyst Taran Adarsh, it is now an "all time blockbuster".
