If you're looking to save up on expensive roaming services and travel data cards - after all who isn't - help is on hand.
In it's latest report, Hotelwifitest.com, an online portal that focuses on Wi-Fi quality in hotels globally, has listed the top 10 and bottom hospitality chains based on their Wi-Fi services, with Nordic Choice, Radisson Blu and Renaissance claiming the prime spots (in that order).
According to the report, Nordic Choice has made it to the top in global rankings with 85 per cent of its hotels offering adequate Wi-Fi and 100 per cent of its hotels offering free Wi-Fi. In the US ratings, Marriott came out on top, followed by the Westin and then Hyatt. However the report also specified that only 17 per cent of all Marriott hotels in the United States provide free Wi-Fi - not an impressive number by their standards.
When it came to Asia, Marriott also featured among the top three hotels with quality Wi-Fi service.
The report also specified that every hotel judged as having adequate Wi-Fi should proffer a download speed of at least 3 Mbps (the Netflix recommendation for SD-quality streaming) and an upload speed of 500 kbps (the Skype recommendation for high-quality non-HD video calling). It stated its global rankings were culled out of 50-most tested hotel chains globally, and then sorted according to Wi-Fi quality.
