Speaking in Beijing on Friday, India's Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that India and China had a "historic responsibility" to resolve outstanding differences, build strong economic ties, and improve people-to-people contact between the two neighbours.
"We have a historic responsibility to turn this relationship into a source of strength for each other and source of good for the world," said Modi, who is on a three-day visit to China. "We are committed to set a new direction between the two largest Asian countries."
Both nations have signed 24 agreements during Modi's visit on a wide-range issues ranging including trade negotiations, railway administration, space cooperation and climate change.
Modi said a high-level task force would be set up to expand economic relations in infrastructure, IT, pharmaceuticals, agriculture and manufacturing."
"This has been a very productive and positive visit. I look forward to working with President Xi and Premier Li," he said.
Chinese Premier Li Keqiang said, "We will serve as two engines of Asia."
