This is one photo to rule them all. In a total 'aww' moment, actor Rishi Kapoor tweeted out a picture of his beloved uncle Shashi Kapoor with the actresses who have starred opposite the legendary actor/ filmmaker in his films.
Yesterday, the 77-year-old actor was honoured with the Dada Saheb Phalke award, Indian cinema's highest honour.
The photo shows Nafisa Ali clasping Shashi Kapoor's hands as he sits in a wheelchair surrounded by Waheda Rehman, Asha Parekh, Zeenat Aman, Shabana Azmi, Rekha, Neetu Singh and Supriya Pathak. Proud nephew Rishi Kapoor tweeted the photo out, saying 'And his heroines! WOW.'
Another endearing photo captured at the event was of Neetu Singh clicking a selfie with Shashi Kapoor, Karishma Kapoor, Ranbir Kapoor, and Rekha.
The event took place at Mumbai's Prithvi Theatre, that Kapoor had established with his wife Jennifer in memory of his father, the iconic Prithviraj Kapoor. Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Arun Jaitley presented the award to Shashi Kapoor. All his (Shashi Kapoor's) friends and family were present at the event including Amitabh Bachchan who thanked his co-star for 'being just who you are - a caring and compassionate friend and wonderful colleague.'
This article erroneously termed Ranbir Kapoor and Karishma Kapoor as Shashi Kapoor's nephew and niece (respectively). It has now been updated.
