Former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa was today acquitted by the Karnataka High Court in a disproportionate assets case. The verdict, that came as a huge relief to the AIADMK chief, will also enable her to stage a political comeback.
Soon after the verdict, celebrations broke out outside Jayalalithaa's residence in Poes Garden as policemen deployed there looked on. Tamil Nadu Chief Minister O. Panneerselvam reached her residence while exuberant party workers burst crackers, danced to drum beats, chanted "long live Amma" and distributed sweets.
