Megastar Amitabh Bachchan, who was scheduled to arrive in Delhi on Monday for the promotion of his upcoming film Piku, has skipped his visit as he is suffering from viral fever.

"So just because you are 'ridden' does not mean you cannot communicate..'Verified Incorporated Rationale Against Liberty' .. VIRAL. Got it... Down a bit, but communicating is now an insatiable hunger !!! And the connect seems better in recline," [sic] Bachchan, 72, posted on Twitter.

The actor plays an ageing father to Deepika Padukone, in the comedy-drama. The film explores the dynamics of the father-daughter relationship as they take a road trip to Kolkata from Delhi.

Also starring Irrfan Khan, Moushumi Chatterjee and Jishu Sengupta, the Shoojit Sircar-directed film is expected to hit theatres on May 8.
