TRAL, Jammu and Kashmir -- Hurriyat hardliner Syed Ali Shah Geelani stoked controversy on Friday after numerous Pakistan flags were waved during his rally in Tral.
"It is being said that our Pandit brothers, who left, have to be resettled. We have never opposed their settling in Kashmir. We have been saying for years that they should be brought back, but they should be allowed to live amongst us. The creation of separate neighbourhoods for them is not acceptable to us," Geelani said, while addressing the rally.
"Our Sikh brothers are living here amongst us in Tral in safety, and I say this to our Hindu and Christian brothers: Islam teaches us that we must never discriminate with others on the basis of profession, region, class, language, and so on," he added.
The presence of Pakistani flags at Geelani's rally comes a fortnight after fellow separatist Masarat Alam was arrested for 'provocative actions' for the same reason.
